8. Iron deficiency anemia
Very often, celiac disease is diagnosed because of iron deficiency anemia. Symptoms include reduced blood volume, fatigue, shortness of breath, headache, pale skin, mucous membranes, and even arthritis. Iron is not digestible because, with intolerance to gluten, the absorption of iron in the intestine is impaired.
